Above The Vaulted Sky

2021

The next chapter in the Telegraph chronicles comes from sunny Los Angeles. Konstantin Gabbro (of Orac and Adjunct fame) meets old friend Mikael Stavöstrand, who needs no introduction in the world of minimal tech house, for a 3 joints session spiced with frivolous sound design and knee-bending rhythms. The opening “Feedback”, featuring Dave Aju on vocals, relishing in contemporary sentiments and riding on acid lines, invites you to care and share while fully immersed in dance floor bliss. ”Nyssa” brings on a festive vibe, bouncing all around with house cabaret percussions, cooky synthesizer tweaks and a darling yet somewhat sloppy horn section. A valiant effort to lift your spirits up and shuffle your brain cells around. The title track “Above The Vaulted Sky” wraps the EP sending the listener into a contemplative orbit weaved with deep synth pads and the voices of mysterious medicine men, flying in weightlessness above the ever so dense realm of the material. All in all 23 minutes of elated, energetic and uncompromising house music!!!

Mikael Stavöstrand

Mikael Stavöstrand has released over 50 12" Ep's, numerous albums and remixes for labels such as Force Inc, Lick My Deck, Sushitech, Kindish, Highgrade and more
Mikael grew up in small town in Sweden, where he started producing EBM in the late eighties, he then started to release Industrial / Dark Ambient music using different pseudonyms on labels as Staalplaat, Cold Spring, Dark Vinyl and more. After that period he got more interested into sound research and minimalism, which also led to a couple of CD releases on labels as Staalplaat. In 2000 he became more focused on bringing his experiences and sound from the pure minimal scene into a more club context, so he started to work with techno soundscapes, which immediately resulted with releases on Force Inc. in Germany. Till present Mikael has released over 50 12" Ep's, numerous albums and remixes. Artists such as Ricardo Villalobos, Fumiya Tanaka, Agoria, James Holden & Mathew Dear support Mikael's music in their DJ sets and mix CD's. Mikael has played LIVE at some of finest clubs in the world such as: Panorama Bar, Fabric, Rex Club, Watergate, Fuse, Avalon and many more.   Mikael also records under the names Vita, The Skull, Men in Slippers (w. [a]pendics. shuffle) and Bulgur Brothers (w. Andreas Tilliander & Johan Skugge).

Konstantin Gabbro

Konstantin Gabbro’s music thrives on the unorthodox, the experimental and the unknown. From electronic house cabaret numbers to songs featuring acoustic instruments and vocals, his sound is genre-defying and always open to adventure. His music life began with classical piano training as a child, until he discovered synths and various electronic instruments. Konstantin played keyboards for the (international band of mystery) The Absolute Beginners, formed the trio Star Polar, created and ran the labels Orac (with Randy Jones, aka Caro), Adjunct (with Ken Gibson aka [A]pendics.shuffle) and most recently Zoombézoom.
